How to reach Shirdi from New Delhi?

Though we used the train but, if money is not a thing to cause an issue, then the best route from New Delhi would be to catch a flight from New Delhi to Aurangabad.

Air India provides direct flights from New Delhi to Aurangabad city which will cost you around 7 to 10k depending upon which sort you choose.

Once you lands at Aurangabad, you can either choose to travel further via a private cab or buses/ MSRTC which is quite popular in the area and comfy. Prices can vary from bus service to bus service. It will take roughly 2.5 hrs. To reach from Aurangabad.

The Ordinary MSRTC bus costs Rs.150 per seat and the Private AC bus costs anywhere from Rs.500–1000.

For train users: You should head to Nashik. There are 3 Daily Trains from New Delhi to Nashik.

  1. via-12618/Mangala Lakshadweep SF Express. Takes roughly 20 hrs to reach Nashik.
  2. Via- 22110/Hazrat Nizamuddin – Mumbai LTT AC SF, this train runs only on Wed and Sat, a lot quicker, and the nicest part is it takes only 16 hrs to reach Nashik.

Once you are at Nashik, either hire a cab or a bus to Shirdi. Shirdi is about 90 km away from Nashik and the journey would take about 2–3 hrs.

The buses will cost you anywhere between 100–1000 again depending upon the quality.

Facts about The Shrine 

The Shani Shignapur Temple has literally no roofs, doors, or walls around. It contains only a five and a half feet high black stone, symbolizing the great Lord Shani. The idol is placed under the open sky, which makes this temple unique as compared to others.

 On top of the idol, pure mustard oil is being poured continuously from a copper vessel hanging just above the idol. There are also statues of Nandi Ji, Hanuman Ji, and Shiva Ji besides and around lord Shani.

Dwarkamai:

Another nearest places to visit in Shirdi is the ultimate treasures for sai devotees. People say DwarkaMai is the epicenter of the Shirdi, the place where sai baba along with all his devotees; of that time spent their valuable moments here. This place also witnessed the precious last moments of sai baba.

Dwarkamai is a sort of mosque in the temple where Sai Baba stayed till the last moments of his life. This samadhi is located at the entrance of the temple. The walls are divided into two floors – the first have pictures attached to Baba’s life and a big stone is placed on which Baba used to sit.

There are two rooms on the first floor, in one, Baba’s chariot is kept and in the second his palanquin is kept. On the second floor is Baba’s bathroom where the stone is placed on which Baba used to sit and take a bath. There are many oil paintings here which are devoted to devotees and visitors.

Lendi Bagh

Lendi Baug Shirdi - History, Timings, Entry Fee, Location

Lendi Bagh is a beautiful garden situated on the Shirdi-Manmad road. Baba spent a lot of his life in this garden. According to the legends, Baba once sat on a stone in Lendi Bagh which was picked up by some people in Shirdi and he used it for washing clothes. Presently, the stone is kept in the Darjakame mosque in Shirdi. In this garden, an unbroken lamp always burns under the Peepal tree. This tree was planted by Sai Baba with his own hands. This garden is open for 24 hours.

Chavadi

It is a very special place to be visited by pilgrims traveling to Shirdi. It is said about this place that Sai Baba spent a few nights here during his final years. Chavadi is located near the Dwarkamai Mosque from where Sai Baba’s procession was taken out in a palanquin by his followers, hence the devotees of Sai Baba consider this place to be very special.

Abdul Baba’s cottage

Thousands of memories of Sai Baba are enshrined in Abdul Baba’s hut. This hut is quite small and light green, which is situated opposite to Chawadi. Gurusthan:

Gurusthan is one of the most special places in Shirdi. This place is considered so special because it is the holy place where Sai Baba first appeared to the world as a 16-year-old boy. The place is located at Kopargaon, which is about 14 km from the city of Shirdi. This special place is situated under a neem tree. Please tell that there is also a shrine here on which the picture of Sai Baba is placed with a Shivling and Nandi bull in front. The place of gurusthan is the place of guru. It is also said about this place that all sorts of diseases of the devotees by burning incense sticks here are cured.

Khandoba Temple

This temple located on the main road with the emblem of Khandoba, Banai, and Malaisai. This special temple of Shirdi is dedicated to the presiding deity of the city, Khandoba. Taking this place, it is said that Sai Baba came to Shirdi for the second time with a wedding party and placed his foot under a banyan tree. Sai Baba, the priest named Mhalsapati was the first to see. Explain that this temple is one of the 13 most prominent temples dedicated to Khandoba.

Samadhi temple:

The Samadhi Temple at Shirdi is another place for devotees to visit. According to the stories, a rich man from Nagpur owned the Samadhi Temple. He wanted to install the statue of Muralidhar in this temple and was also a great devotee of Sai Baba. According to legends, Baba himself became a Murlidhar in that temple and this temple became a Samadhi temple. Late Bala Ji Vasanth built the idol of Sai Baba here in Italian marble in 1954. This temple opens for darshan from 5 am to 10 pm with remarkable prayers by devotees and pandits of the temple.

When Sai Baba spent his nights at Chavadi in his final years, he was taken there in a palanquin procession from the Dwarkamai Mosque. Even today, a procession of Sai Baba is taken out every Thursday with the same enthusiasm and vow.

Manmad, a small beautiful town in the Nasik district of Maharashtra. This well-connected district is a place to visit historic and religious 400-year-old Gurudwara, providing each and everyone a high spiritual experience.

This is one of the finest nearest places to visit in Shirdi, this place also serves as a train HubSpot to visit a well established and amazing gurudwara known as Sach Khand Hajoor Sahab in Nanded. People who want to visit this gurudwara have to change trains from Manmad only.

How to reach:  There is a direct train, Sach Khand express available for devotees from Delhi to reach here. 

Some interesting history: It has been said that Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji, during his stay at Nanded, helped in the release of two brave Maratha chiefs, Bala Rao and Rustom Rao from the Fort of Satara and brought them back to Manmad.

There was an extremely thick woods at the spot of Gurdwara. Baba Nidhan Singh Ji began Karseva for building Gurdwara hereby freeing the thick woodland with the assistance from Sikhs.
